Agile principles #6
- The most efficient and effective method of conveying information to and within a project team is face to face or live conversation.
1. Pre kick-off
Pre kick-off is aligning with PXL so you have everything you need to equip your Squad for success.
- What problem are we solving?
- Why does it matter?
- What does ‘done’ look like?
- What updates are needed, at what frequency?
- What will be the alignment / validation checkpoints in this project?
- Who needs to be involved in this project?
Remember to check in on how the project will be socialised with the execs
Example kick-off workshop
- Pre-populate a Project charters with your view to get feedback on it
- Answer all the above questions, and sense check your thinking with PXL
2. Kick-off
Kick-off is aligning with the Squad + stakeholders and starting to planning the work ahead together — or at least the first sprint ****😉
- What problem are we solving?
- What work has gone on before?
- When do we need to check in with PXL?
- What are the key beats, milestones, measures of success and/or deadlines for this project?
- What are the tasks that make up this project? What’s their scope?
- Who owns what tasks, and when by?
Example kick-off workshop
- Use your pre kick-off work as a starting point
- Align with your squad on your project’s Project charters
- You might want to pop all those questions on a Miro board, and ask your Squad to pre-populate it with their thoughts
- That way, your kick-off will be all about alignment & next steps
