<aside> šŸ’” TLDR: People Stories is an independent community of people with similar roles who want to help each other out and share their expertise with each other - so that no single person ever has to reinvent the wheel from scratch.

šŸŽ‰ Intro

I'm Marie (hi šŸ‘‹),

Back in September 2019 Caitlin, People Experience at Bloom and Wild, reached out toĀ an Operations community I'd been part of for two years (OpsĀ Stories) butĀ theyĀ didn't quite have the right focus for her. Its founders kindly askedĀ members to intro Caitlin to People people who might be of help and/or interest.

It worked well. Really well. It serendipitously happened when I was specialising in PeopleĀ Ops, and we were both kinda solo in our roles (supported by our wider teams but as stand-alone contributors). Supported by the Stories communities organisers, we decided to launch People Stories ā€” a space for People people to share and learn with one another.

Now, Iā€™ve stepped back and the community is led by Olya & Carol, and Caitlin is an active member!

šŸ¤” Y tho**?**

To build a space for People people who want to learn from each other by sharing actionable advice, discussing big-picture challenges and forward-thinking strategies.Ā For People people who want to help each other grow and develop!Ā The idea is a participative community with round-tables and a bottom-up approach.

We wanted to build a space to:

šŸ¤“ OpsĀ thingsĀ vs PeopleĀ things

Operations have their fingers in many pies, one of them may be PeopleĀ Ops.

PeopleĀ OpsĀ isĀ ops-informed, people-focused.Ā AnĀ OpsĀ role can sometimes develop into a People role, and People roles are still operational in many cases.

It's alright if this just felt like a tongue-twister, and it's alright if there's an overlap. People Stories, however, will laser-focus on themes like values, employee lifecycle, psychological safety and more People-related topics.
