• As a manager, prepare some questions, comments, or feedback on a specific topic. This way, you can avoid surprises, confusion, and domination by a few speakers. </aside>

• Feedback giving and receiving in part of your daily routine. At the end of the week, take some time to reflect on the achievements and areas of progress of your team members and write them down.
• Avoid the “sandwich feedback” at all costs. The sandwich feedback means combining negative and positive feedback in a sandwich pattern. Managers typically use this method for performance reviews or to discuss a negative trait. This tends to create confusion and minimize the impact of what needs to be changed or corrected.
• Prepare your conversation in the Cockpit of your managee before your 1:1s. Remember to be clear and precise and focus on behavior that you have observed.
• Reinforce the positive output and achievements, keep in mind the ratio of 5 of positive feedback to 1 difficult feedback. </aside>
